Notes from Brad, Northern Brewer Development Brewer:

Hard seltzer waters are all the rage these days, so why not ride the wave? This kit is a very simple and straightforward fermentation consisting only of dextrose (corn sugar). The resulting product is boozy water, coming in right at about 5.5% ABV and is then flavored with all-natural crystallized lemon strawberry powder.

To ensure the best results with this kit, be sure to follow the directions and add the yeast nutrient packets according to the schedule described. Adding yeast nutrients in staggered additions ensures that the yeast remain happy and healthy and will avoid any off-flavors that stressed-out yeast can generate.

The fermentation will be complete within 2 weeks or so, but be sure to leave this batch sit for a few additional weeks to allow the yeast to drop out of solution and leave behind a clear beverage.

We have also included more flavoring than likely needed, so you can decide how intense to make the flavor - add a little at a time and taste until you are happy with the taste."

Ok flavor

Its not my fave but for starting out it wasn't bad. I used the whole flavor packet and could have used more. Then again that is why I do not like setters much, lack of robust flavor. The fizz tablets I think next time I try 2 to a bottle as there is not much of that either. The girls like it so its a win either way.

Great!

Easy to make recipe, detailed instructions. Next time I will be putting a bit less of the flavor crystals in as they were a bit Strom for me. Otherwise a great kit.

Lack luster

I used the whole pack of flavoring at bottling time and the results were mildly flavored water with minimal carbonization. I’ve never liked carb drops and they did not disappoint, poor carbonization. I should have primed with corn sugar but I thought I would give the kit a try as is. We live in Savannah and have a lime tree that tends to have some fruit year round and found that squeezing a lime into your glass helps! I don’t recommend the seltzer kit. Tried it to see what the hype was. 30 year home Brewer. I’ll stick to beer!
