Hippity Hop Hop

Tropical fruits punch you in the mouth at first sip. Then the added dry hops leave that aftertaste of a solid IPA. New to homebrewing and have only brewed 4 batches. First time brewing this recipe. LOTS of ingredients but not difficult thanks to the easy instructions (Thank you NB). My wife, who is not a beer drinker, gave it "Two Bottoms Up." Becoming a bigger fan of IPAs and this one just secured a lot in my bar refrigerator.

Wonderful beer that is very forgiving.

I brewed this beer in a rush to be ready for my wife’s birthday. I pitched the yeast on 7/23 with an OG 1.073 @73 degrees. On 7/29, I had a FG 1.018 (stable 1.2 days) for an ABV 7.22. I then siphoned the beer into a clean keg with the dry hop additions in the keg. I presurized to 30 psi and stuck it in the fridge. First taste was on 7/31 and it was nearly undrinkable due to the dry hop addition raging. Another 24 hours on my wife’s birthday, it had matured enough to drink. Last night (8/7), I had friends over and the beer was really great and I got a ton of compliments. I am looking forward to the next week to see how the flavors evolve. I will brew this again. Curious about the all grain, but have to get a few more gadgets. Enjoy!

Really solid product

The Swig of Sunbeams kit was a great purchase. The final result is a nice smooth IPA with a lot of tasty Citra hops. The total time of brewing and bottling is 6 weeks. I continue to be impressed with Northern Brewer’s quality and taste. Thank you Northern Brewer team!
