Quality ingredients.

If you’re reading this, you obviously appreciate good beer. Or someone in your life does. Which means you need a starter kit with truly high-quality beer ingredients:

Starter Kit Options:

Block Party Amber Ale: Gather up the neighbors and block off the streets, it's time to bring out some pints! Deep garnet glow. Friendly flavors of toasty bread crust, caramel, and an inkling of floral and herbal hop character. A true crowd pleaser.

Chinook IPA: American IPA beer kit. Lighter in body than our other IPAs. Lower gravity, which enhances bitterness + reduces aging requirements. Reddish-gold. Thick, resinous Chinook aroma that lingers after the glass is emptied. View recipe

Hank's Hefeweizen: "Hefe" means yeast, "Weizen" means wheat. Long ago in the south of Germany, the two combined to create this tasty sought-after wheat beer. This popular non-hoppy Hefeweizen beer recipe kit delights a wide range of beer lovers with its medium body and effervescence. Fill a stein and serve with a slice of lemon. Prost!

Use testing equipment to measure the progress of your fermentation and precisely test your final ABV.

Solid Start

I’ve been wanting to get a more serious brewing kit after having tried the Mr. Beer kits twice with poor results. The BSE kit was thorough and the video support was pretty great. My beer ended up becoming slightly off-taste from what the intended flavor was because I pitched my wort a little too hot and the temp control in the room I had it in was not great. But, of course, I’m still learning. The beer was still good and drinkable and I’m looking forward to my next batch! Customer support was also great.

Great DIY kit.

I ordered the homebrew starter kit and was very satisfied with the overall experience. I've since brewed and sipped my very first homebrew (Chinook ipa) and it came out great. The directions were very thorough and I was able to go through the entire process with the kit and directions. And if I wanted more nuance then the NB site was full of information.

The only 2 areas that the kit and directions were somewhat lacking was the kit was without an auto-siphon which seems like it should be part of the default setup and the directions for the hydrometer were not very clear. I ended up tasting a bunch of beer during the bottling process because the hose kept slipping and I would have to re-siphon (manually) and I was unable to get an accurate abv. I ended up ball parking it when I was able to drink it. It was a bit higher than the 5% I guesstimated.

Overall the entire process was easy and enjoyable. My few emailed questions were answered within a few days and the finished product was worth the investment 10x over.

So far, so good

I bought a homebrew starter kit with the extract Chinook IPA in early July, but it was too hot to brew in Tacoma. So, I was finally able to brew and ferment this month and Monday will be bottling day. I tasted a sample and the Chinook IPA tasted good (for no carbonation beer) 5 days ago. I'm happy. Kit is a good value and it had all I need to brew except bottles. I bought some extract as well and will brew again early next week. I also bought a 5 cu ft chest freezer from Walmart to ferment beer in this August and an Inkbird temp controller so I can brew regardless of how hot my apartment gets. I went to the Safale website and got info about rehydrating the US-05 yeast and added about a 4 ounce ladle chilled hopped wort from the 60 minute boil to a 2 cup Pyrex measure and added and stirred the US 05 yeast. It was ready to pitch in 18 minutes. Within 6 hours of pitching, the yeast were shifting from 2nd to 3rd gear and really took off from there after. Now just an occasional bubble in the airlock, fermentation is done in less than 2 weeks. This was the first time I brewed beer and it was not too difficult. Customer service and the website are both excellent. Will buy again!
