Begin your Homebrew adventure today, with the Goose Island Starter Kit!

Goose Island Sweet Porter Brewery Edition Extract Kit: Our brewmasters partnered with Goose Island Research and Development brewer Tim Faith to craft a homebrewing recipe that perfectly captures the complex flavors and character of the Goose Island original. The result of that collaboration is an unbelievably memorable brew that evokes the creamy essence of the eggnog cocktail that inspired it, along with notes of milk chocolate, nutmeg and a big, toasty malt backbone. It also conveys the complex flavors of barrel aging that have become a Goose Island trademark…without the barrel aging.

Awesome kit and great recipe for $99. But you will need additional sanitizer for bottling.
I just bottled today. So far so good. Tasted today and flavor is good. Will improve in the bottle. Great starter kit with one small issue. Kit comes with 2 oz of oxygen wash which is not enough to clean everything, sanitizer for fermentation and then bottle in 3 weeks. You will need to buy a sanitizer for bottling. No way around it. But small issue considering you will likely need it anyway. If you plan to continue the hobby.

Outstanding beer kit with everything to get started
For me it was a great deal to get replacement brewing equipment along with a Goose Island beer kit at a very reasonable price. I took advantage of a 20% discount sale for this kit to make it a even better deal. Just brewed the beer kit this weekend and I think I'll love it. I was impressed the beer kit included two packets of yeast to get the fermentation really going. From my experience a strong fermentation makes better quality beer.

Good Kit, Great Support, Good Beer
Kit was good, i bought a chiller and thermometer as well. Support was excellent, i called with a question as the one hops packet was larger than the recipe called for and they answered right away. Also they text you the steps as you go. Easy to follow. Let it ferment for 4 weeks then 2 weeks bottle conditioning. The beer has a very slight bitterness on the first sip but then tastes excellent; i don't know if it is supposed to be that way or not. But it is a good drinking beer with a nice taste and maybe a little bit of a chocolate . Nice dark color and perfect carbonation. This is a great kit for you first time brew.

Fast shipping, could use a little more care in packaging and shipping though...
I received my starter kit yesterday as expected. Yay! However, upon initial inspection, I realized that the package of lactose powder was not fully sealed and some had spilled out in the box, and the lid to the kettle was warped. It would also be helpful if the instructions were more specific to the recipe as this will be my first attempt at homebrewing and there are ingredients specific to this recipe that the instructions do not touch on, nor does it say how much water to use when making the wort. It's called a starter kit for a reason, and it's the little details that could really make or brake my success in my first brew. However, I'm excited to get started.

Great value, great tasting beer!
Bought this kit to as a supplement to my aging brewing buckets + the infamous Goose Island Porter recipe kit. Pint glass NOT included in the kit but still a very good value at around a hundred bucks!

Arrived quickly. Just had my first brew day and it went great. The batch started bubbling like crazy after only an hour. I think it may be too hot in my house here in Texas so I split it into smaller containers and set up a mini fridge on a thermostat to keep it at 68. In the winter should be fine.

I just bought this kit plus the stainles cooler. Looks great but, I'm already getting prompted with emails did you forget the Hydrometer and Sanitizer kit? Looks like the kit contains sanitizer. Do i have everything i need to brew this porter or not? I don't mind buying other stuff but would have preferred to do it all at once. Thanks
b t on Jun 30, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Yes you have everything you need. No worries. HOWEVER-- I found you only have enough to sanitize but not enough to wash. You could use soap to wash everything but it really isn't recommended. Do yourself a favor and more sanitizer (such as star san) and wash (such as oxy clean free). You will need these things if you want to continue the hobby! Also, a hydrometer is only needed for you to test your alcohol content and a couple other things. . Not needed right away. Cheers!
Does it come with liquid yeast? Do i have the option
A shopper on May 25, 2017
BEST ANSWER: In a starter kit, the kit can only come with the dry yeast option. If you border the recipe on it's own, you would have the ability to customize the yeast option.
Is this the same as the Brew Share Enjoy kit but with a different recipe?
A shopper on Jun 19, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Seemed to be. I got it because I knew I'd enjoy the beer more in this kit. Mine is still in secondary fermentation, so I cant vouch for how good it is yet, but the kit came as advertised and had a smooth brew day.
will the Silver Serpent® Stainless Steel Immersion Wort Chiller fit this kit? what is pro cons of stainles vs copper?

BEST ANSWER: I think it'll fit I jus picked up a chiller my self,
Does the kit come with a thermometer?

Why only a 5 gallon kettle for 5 gallon batches? What about boil over...
A shopper on Oct 3, 2017
BEST ANSWER: You only make about 2.5 gallons of wort in the boil kettle. You add an extra 2.5 gallons of water to the wort in the fermenter to get the full 5 gallons. Just bottled our second beer made with the beginner kit gear and I can attest that any 5 gallon extract recipe will work great with the beginner kit.
What should final gravity be close to with the goose island milk porter extract kit?
A shopper on Jul 22, 2017
BEST ANSWER: You should finish beneath 1.020-1.025. This beer has a little higher of a final gravity because of the lactose used.
