Keep on Hand for Simple Brewing
I really like this stuff. I do more complicated brews, but I also made a tasty beer with just This and Challenger hops. Right now, I'm fermenting an amber extract IPA (amber extract, crystal 20 & Columbus, Cascade and Willamette hops). Soon, I hope to make a porter with just this, chocolate malt and hops.

Amazing in Pecan Pie!
We add this one to our chocolate pecan pie and our customers LOVE it! The staff is knowledgable and friendly too! They did a great job helping me to determine what malt syrup would give us some depth of flavor w/o taking over. Thanks!

Everyone loves the color...
I've been on a quest to find a simple recipe that yields a friend-favorite beer. This LME is the base for that, and it always comes through. Never had any problems using this, and I love it. Price is good compared to other brands. Oh, and as for the 5 gal recipe: Steep 1 lb of caramalt in a bag for 20 minutes in 2 gal 180 degree water. Remove grains and add another gallon of hot water and bring to boil. Remove from heat, and add 6 lb of this Amber, return to boil. Add 1 oz cascade and 1 oz centennial hops, and boil for 45-60 minutes. Use US-05 or 1272 yeast. Week or two in primary. Everyone loves both the look and taste of this beer. About 5% alc.

Quality stuff
Northern Brewer describes how their extract is made frequently and therefore very fresh when you receive it, and I absolutely believe them. The quality of their extracts is consistently high. This is a good value considering it's an easy way to add density to your wort.

The way to go
I use 9lbs of this to make brown ale. it will make 24-25L of 1052-1054 G. I wish the price was lower but I can still make that batch with the US-05 and 1 lb of cristal 60 + hopps for about 37$

I like this extract and use it a lot. I'm thinking of buying a six pack. For how long could I store this before use?

BEST ANSWER: LME like this is best used fresh, but it can be stored in a refrigerator and kept for a year or so without significant degradation. - Mike W, Northern Brewer
