now fridge stores food and homebrew
I replaced those silly crisper drawers in my refrigerator with this small keg and a CO2 bottle. Now I can poor a beer and grab some munchies all at once. Perfect.

The criticisms about those spring loaded poppets are true - I launched on across the kitchen when I cleaned the keg for the first time - but after one incident I learned my lesson. Done.

Okay So Far
I got these to save some space. I read what someone else said about the cleaning of the poppet valves being in place and had the same concerns. However, after looking at it I realized that they meant the pressure relief valve. The in and out valves are completely removable for cleaning. Be careful though because they will fly apart if you aren't careful when removing them from the keg.

Good in theory
I like having a smaller keg, and, when it came, it was all bright and shiny. Welds on the handle are a little clumsy looking. But my big complaint was the lack of any kind of diagram, specs, or instructions. The description said to "Note, poppets not removable. Clean in place." I always remove the posts for cleaning and sanitation, and to replace o-rings. The posts on the keg they sent me are removable, so I assumed that meant that I wouldn't be able to get the poppets out of the posts. Wrong! As soon as I loosened the first post, it flew in the air and the spring bounced across the counter and, presumably, down the drain of the sink at the end of the counter. The inside of the post assembly is only the top of a poppet and a separate compression spring that sits on top of the in or out tubes. It is all eminently removable. My rating of the keg will go to "0" if I'm unable to get a replacement spring.

Response from Northern Brewer
Thanks for the review, sorry to hear about confusion on what can be removed...I was under that impression myself so this is interesting. Thanks for letting us know about this issue so we can make sure the product is represented correctly, maybe they changed something recently in the production.

I found the order so we should be able to help you out. Any chance you can attach of a photo or two of the post and top of the poppet? I want to make sure I send the right poppet and a photo is usually the best way to get the right one to you. It's probably just the universal poppet by the sounds of it. An address verification would also be helpful! Looking forward to hearing back, either reply here or send a new email to brewmasters@northernbrewer.com. Cheers! James J.
