Artisanal Standard Semi-Sweet Mead Making Kit

Artisanal Standard Semi-Sweet Mead strikes the perfect balance between dry refinement and sweet indulgence. With a touch more body and honey aroma than its dry counterpart, this mead offers soft sweetness without becoming cloying. Fermented with Wyeast 4783 Sweet White Wine Yeast, it develops gentle fruit esters and a round, smooth finish that highlights the unique floral nuances of Ames Farm honey. Each batch reflects the season’s honey profile — a true expression of nature, terroir, and craft meadmaking.

Fermented to dry

This started out 1.088 OG for me and fermented out to 1.003 in about 3 weeks. Was very dry at this stage. Did not taste semi-sweet at all and was quite harsh. After several weeks of aging, the harshness mellowed out significantly. I'm optimistic this will turn out well. Just a bit surprised by how dry it turned out, but I suppose 12 lbs of honey in 5 gallons will likely ferment completely. I love how easy (and cheap) this kit was as it included all the nutrients to add at various stages of fermentation. Not a big fan yet of the Wyeast that's included. My earlier mead using D47 seemed to produce a nicer semi-sweet mead.

Good stuff!

Hopefully the second batch will make it to bottling this time!

Straightforward, easy to follow instructions. Everything listed in the kit was delivered. Now I just have to wait!

Hard to rate so far since it’s still in the primary. The kit itself was exactly as advertised and very easy to brew
