Bourbon Barrel Porter Extract Beer Recipe Kit
Bourbon barrel-aged beers have been a hugely popular style ever since American craft brewers first started exploring this deliciously innovative technique in the 1990s. And the results of those experiments have only become more sought-after over the past decades.
We've packed the best elements of the style, along with the finest ingredients, into a foolproof recipe kit that brings the best of the craft breweries to you. By starting with a stronger-than-average robust porter, then infusing it with bourbon-soaked oak (we recommend Maker's Mark), the end result is quite possibly the best beer ever. You'll have to supply your own bourbon, so be sure to save a little to sip on brew day to really capture the spirit. The intense aroma and flavor of toasted American oak and the sweet graininess of good bourbon meld with the bittersweet roastiness of porter to make for a very characterful beer.
Due to the high starting gravity of this kit, we recommend pitching multiple packs of yeast or preparing a yeast starter for best results.

This was an easy beer to produce, despite the lengthy fermentation and time between brewing and bottling. I chose a traditional English ale yeast and gave it time to start off strong with some malt extract before pitching. The results are on-point. I recommend splurging on quality bourbon for soaking the oak cubes. Top-tier ingredients = outstanding and enjoyable beer. I bottled in 750ml champagne bottles for sharing & gifting over the winter holidays.
I used a very dark rum in lieu of bourbon. Good mild taste. Not much mouthfeel.
About 6% alcohol.
If you take your time and do this properly it's worth the effort. Creamy head and just the right taste of bourbon. My favorite!
Excellent beer, smooth taste but still a nice bite to it.
Thistiff is pretty tasty
