Product details

A spinoff of our highly popular Nut Brown Ale kit that combines American malts, hops and ale yeast with honey.
What would happen if you augmented the slightly dry, caramelly and roasty character of a smooth, mellow English brown ale with the sweet floral flavor of honey? What if you added the honey at the very last possible minute to maximize its presence in the finished beer? What if it was delicious? This recipe is a spinoff of our highly popular Nut Brown Ale kit that combines American malts, hops and ale yeast with honey. A well-balanced and intensely drinkable beer.

Delicious

Our first successful attempt at full grain. This is a very approachable beer. Flavorful but balanced. Will brew again soon

Honey brown

As with all of your kits, the honey brown was very easy to brew. Numbers were on point. Very smooth flavor profile. If I did it over, I would double the honey for a more pronounced honey nose and flavor. Overall a great beer

Great Spring Beer

I made this so that it'd be ready for March in MN. Often still cold, but with sun shine, and wet... You don't want too dark, but it's also silly to be drinking lagers and Heffs. So what about a nut brown, that "cuts the nut" with honey? Sounds good. This was the first beer I made with my new Tilt. Given that, I was able to see I had reached the bottom end of the FG after only a week (according to an OG/FG chart I found on brewers friend). So I pulled it "early" and let it sit in a pressurized keg for ~2 weeks to age. Had my first glass last night, and I can't complain. The honey doesn't overwhelm, but neither does the "nuttiness" of the nut brown recipe. So if you want something help you transition from nasty winter to diet winter (otherwise known as Spring outside of MN) this is your beer.
