Omega Yeast 061 Voss Kveik
Voss Kveik is a proprietary strain that you will not find anywhere else.
A traditional Norwegian "kveik" strain from the farmhouse brewery of Sigmund Gjernes in Voss, Norway, this strain (like OYL-057 HotHead) is capable of fermenting across a broad temperature range with little change in flavor profile.
Voss Kveik is non-phenolic and produces a beer with moderate citrus notes allowing it to pair very well with citrusy and fruity hops. This strain is not fast at the low end of the range so don't be afraid to pitch at temperatures in the middle to upper part of the range. Ferments between 68-98° F.
*NOTE:*During summer months, we include complimentary ice packs will all liquid yeast orders. However, it is difficult to guarantee that the ice packs will stay frozen given transit times and particularly hot temperatures. For this reason, we recommend ordering dry yeast during summer months.
Excellent. Fermented it in my attic in the middle of a heat wave and it stayed a steady 92 F the entire fermentation. Went perfectly with the standard fruity hops. I’ll use this again next summer.
I Love it....., it starts fast and finishes clean and no weird flavors. I fermented at 75 degrees, next I’ll try 85-90 degrees. I will buy it again.
Just took a taste of the NEIPA I brewed with this using Comet and Centennial. Definitely get citrus flavors and aromas. Fermented at 78-85 in temp controlled fridge. I made a 2L starter. It took off immediately (both the starter and the beer). This may revolutionize home brewing for those who lack temperature controlled fermentation.
Phenomenal product here. Prime temp is somewhere between 80 and 85. At higher temps, closer to 90, you’re looking at soft tangerine and orange esters at a low intensity. Anything under 80 will result in a five-six day ferment with some sulfur. D rest is recommended to remove sulfur, slickness. Very viable for up to 5 generations. Pitch rate is about .4# per barrel. Can absolutely push for hotter with less yeast for more ester similar to a sach trois.
