Works fine
Use it on big mouth bubbler

Get a carboy cap to go with it
It doesn't fit in a carboy very well, especially if the stopper or the carboy is a bit wet. Let things dry after you sanitize. I quickly found out I needed something for a blow off tube so I pulled the thermowell out the stopper and got a carboy cap.

Works for me!
I use the BCS 460 and the rtd sensors that are available through Brewers Hardware. The desire fits the thermowell once the strain relief shrink wrap is removed. I did not test the more common Johnson Control probe as I don't use it anymore.

C'mon now!!
This is just silly. I bought the whole setup (thermowell and controller) in the retail store (Milwaukee) and they didn't mention they weren't compatible. Drilling it out does work, but they really should not sell this if they aren't compatible.

works great with mod but pricey
i bought this to use with the johnson digital temp control, and as mentioned it wont work b/c the probe is too large to fit inside the tube. so i went to a hardware store and bought the longest 1/4" drill bit ($4) they had and slightly bored out the inside of the tube. took only a few mins and now the probe fits and works great, i use the thermowell every time i ferment but it is a bit pricey for what you get though. cheers.

What are the dimensions of the thermowell: length, ID and OD?
Brian B on Mar 14, 2018
BEST ANSWER: The OD of the one that I have is .310 inches, ID is .212 inches, and the length is 15 inches total with the stopper being 1 inch of that.
Will this Thermowell stopper work with the Johnson Controls A419 digital temperature controller?
A shopper on Dec 5, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Yes. I use mine with a Johnson Control and it works great.
Will this work with Inkbird probes?
Devon N on Nov 14, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Yes but would recomend controlling the ambient temp with the inkbrird instead
Will a 6.5mm DS18B20 temperature sensor fit all the way down in the thermowell? I'm talking about the cheap eBay DS18B20 sensors. Thanks.
I measured the probe and it's .240 on the metal but up to .263 on the heat-shrink covering over the probe.
Roger H on Feb 27, 2017
BEST ANSWER: I think it will. It won't let me link it here, but the sensor I use, which is also a DS18B20, comes from the BrewPi store and it fits perfectly.
However, my version of this probe does not get larger by the heat shrink covering. I haven't measured it myself, but the specs on the page say it is .240 inches. The fit between the probe and the walls of the thermowell is almost perfect, so if it gets much larger than .24, then it might be a tight squeeze. I don't think .02 inches will matter too much though, so you should be ok.
does it work with the 6.5 gallon glass big mouth bubblers?
R I on Oct 16, 2015
BEST ANSWER: I just got 2 of the bubblers, and my thermowells reach well down into it. The stoppers fit the lid perfectly.
will an air lock fit in the stopper and what size will fit?
A shopper on May 10, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Yes, the standard air lock fits in the stopper. I like the 2 piece round air locks, but one problem I have with this is that the temp probe sometimes is hard to get into the thermowell when the stopper is in. You have to push it to the side or take it out to put the probe in, so one of the flat 1 piece airlocks might be better.
Can a stopper thermowell fit and be used with the depth charge?
A shopper on Jan 27, 2017

Big Mouth Bubbler® Depth Charge™
BEST ANSWER: The lid has a white silicone seal at the top with a hole that is 3/8" wide, so it can accept a standard airlock. The thermowell, once removed from the stopper, would fit there just fine, but this could only be done during a secondary after fermentation is long done or pressure could built.
Do you sell just the stopper?
