Grow your own Mount Hood hops!

These Mt. Hood Rhizomes are root cuttings off the hop bine; to be planted in well-drained soil with plenty of sun and room to climb, then harvest and dry the flower cones in late summer for your brewing pleasure!

Mt. Hood hops have a mild, floral aroma and offer a clean bitterness.

Important Notes:

  • Rhizomes ship directly from the supplier as soon as they are available (typically mid April).
  • The minimum order is two (2) rhizomes. Since these are live root stock, we cannot guarantee they will grow so ordering two of each variety desired is optimal to provide greatest chances of success.
  • Rhizomes will be shipped through the US Postal Service. Please provide a USPS-deliverable address with these orders. If you have a PO Box address and wish to order rhizomes, please include ONLY rhizomes on that order. Rhizomes are not available for international shipping.
  • Due to local restrictions, we cannot ship rhizomes to HI, AK, WA, or ID.
  • Due to government restrictions, we cannot ship rhizomes internationally.

One Didn't Make the Shipping

I purchased 2, both were moldy when they arrived, but I planted anyway. One lived and is growing great.

Growing well so far

I planted the rhizome as directed, and the first growth was popping up in about a week. Now there are 5 or 6 vines inching their way upward (the longest is about 5 feet long). There's still a long way to go before harvest, and I'm not sure I'll get many hop cones the first year, but so far the plant looks healthy.

Growing like a weed

I only got one bine to come up (compared to 5 from my centennial rhizome planted next to it), but that one is growing like a weed. I planted in containers since my soil isn't great, with plans to transfer to the ground once they're established. I had bines breaking dirt within two weeks.

Growin' very well

The rhizomes arrived looking healthy and ready to plant. Although it has only been a few weeks since planting, all the Mt. Hood rhizomes have multiple robust sprouts with a few leaves on each.
