Product details

The newest innovation in glass carboys, our Big Mouth Bubbler® EVO 2 Glass Fermenter now features siphonless transfer! Gone are the days of fumbling with hard-to-sanitize racking canes. Recently re-engineered with the help of world-class Polish master glassmakers to ensure sturdy, solid, superior craftsmanship. With graduated volume markings and our Big Mouth Bubbler® Universal Lid, this is the ultimate solution to your fermentation and transfer headaches. Problem solved.

The new Big Mouth Bubbler® Universal Lid fits all Big Mouth Bubbler® Fermenters. The Big Mouth Bubbler® Universal Lid is just like a traditional carboy bung, only bigger! Just as easy to sanitize and set in place too. Removable ribbed silicone ring ensures a positive seal to keep out pests, while the non-threaded design allows the lid to move preventing an out-of-control fermentation from dangerously pressurizing your fermenter.

Now Includes the Big Mouth Bubbler® carrying harness for lifting, transporting and ensuring your Big Mouth Bubbler lid stays firmly in place during even the most intense fermentations.

Fight oxidation and contamination by keeping your fermentor closed for transfers. Never open the lid to insert an auto-siphon, just turn a valve and you're set. Best of all, you'll have clearer beer. Gently rack liquid from the spout into secondary or bottle straight from primary or secondary without disturbing the trub. Make your brew day easier and your beer better with the siphonless Big Mouth Bubbler® EVO 2.

*Pro Tip: Save your box and use it as a cover for your fermenter!

6.5 Gallon fermenters are perfect for the primary stage of beer or wine fermentation. The extra head space allows for the production of krausen on a 5 gallon batch of beer.

Clean and effective

The large opening makes it easy to reach in and clean. The glass makes it easy to see where cleaning is needed and if it has been thoroughly done. One minor cleaning issue is that the gallon markings are concave on the inside, and if the level of the wort happens to be near one, the kreusen will often leave a bit of hard to clean stuff there. Watch out for it. The spigot is placed so that it clears the trub and yeast when draining. It makes it easy to do a closed keg transfers. It _is_ glass so one must exercise great care in handling it during cleaning (I have granite countertops and broke my first one). The first one came with a one hole and a two hole lid, but the second one only came with the single hole. I use a blow-off tube and a thermowell, so I need two. Also the lid can be tricky to keep tight with the provided harness. It's mostly a matter of care and practice. All in all, this is the best fermenter I've used.

Another GREAT product!

Just started a 5 gallon batch of Viking Blood (Cherry) Mead with this unit. My only complaint? Still not big enough to make a full 5 gallons with all the cherries! LOL! All joking aside, this is another example of the quality products from Northern Brewer.

Great item but problemmatic

This bubbler is a real game changer for wine making. Moving the wine from the bubbler to the carboy is so much easier with the spiggot on the side. I have bought 2 of these (I broke the first#@!!). The second one came with a miner defect in the spiggot. No matter what I did I couldn't get it tight enough to prevent it leaking. Since I had the one from my broken bubbler I used it instead. All was well after that.

Well made but trouble with lid

Well made glass fermenter, nice big opening on top, so easy for adding dry hops, etc. siphonless is perfect for transferring. Only issue I had is with lid. It’s not a twist on, but has like rubber flaps that create an OK seal I think. But when I sanitized it and got it wet, could not get lid to stay down after I transferred beer in fermenter. Panicked and had to use blow dryer to heat up rubber flaps to keep lid down. Then had to use weights on top of lid to keep lid down for duration of fermentation. I guess you can use straps that came with it to help with this? Just was a huge hassle for me. Would rather have a twist on lid like the plastic fermenters they sell, but not sure if that’s possible with glass.
